- Useful for separating accounting profit from real cash generation and tracking reinvestment, acquisitions, debt, dividends and buybacks. Especially important in mature businesses, cyclicals, roll-ups and high-capex companies. It can mislead through working-capital timing, irregular capex, refinancing or M&A.
